  • Because MT ALWAYS takes a holistic approach, our coaches make sure to understand your whole person. We're the new old school. We don't believe that a 10-step system will give you everything you need. Instead, we'll walk with you. We'll get to know who you are, your core values, your vision, your dreams, your fears, what drives you, and what hooks you in unhelpful patterns. We excel in our uniqueness in that many of our coaches are International Coach Federation (ICF) certified and all pursue continual trainings and certifications each year. So, what that means is that although your work will be strictly coaching, their insight is unparalleled in that they can notice unique ways you might be getting caught that might otherwise be missed by a coach without formal training and expertise in the human condition.

  • The biggest difference between therapy and coaching at MT is that coaching is more structured and highly focused on clarifying your future life vision and establishing very clear goals for yourself to meet them via homework and accountability. Coaching is for folks who have either already done depth therapy work or are otherwise not facing significant emotional concerns that are their primary concern. Sure, as humans we all experience anxiety, stress, and self-doubt (and if you're building an ambitious life, we'll help you BUCKLE UP because all of these emotions will come with you on your journey), but clients that seek coaching are looking for someone that can help them build their life vision and stay on track with what matters most to them.

    This differs from therapy which helps people explore and get way deep into their understanding of self and how it impacts their emotions and relationships (which often includes healing work from the past). In our experience, clients who are the most successful in coaching have engaged in at least some therapy so they can keep their deeper internal awareness in their back pocket as they focus on building their desired future to the best of their ability.     The role of a coach and a therapist may be different, but we often see clients who find value in working with both a coach and a therapist simultaneously in their experience here at Modern.
