We Invite You to Our Especially Sweet Experience

“Everyone wants to hold the baby, but who’s holding the parent?”

- Unknown (but probably someone with a baby and spit-up in their hair)

If those words immediately hit you, know that we felt the same way and you aren’t alone. Modern Therapy has seen SO MANY parents and their partners navigate major stressors on their minds and bodies when babies enter the picture. We decided it was time to hold the system that holds our babies.

According to the research, 67% of couples’ marital satisfaction plummets after having a child. We’re here to flip that grim statistic on its head because your wellbeing matterss too.

  • The Connected Parents is an experiential series of weekend workshops to learn, grow, and embrace inclusivity with a group of parents, partners, and couples walking through similar relationship experiences during parenthood and the transition to parenthood and want to prioritize their relationship health during this unique stage of life.

With the demands of parenting, it’s easy to get so immersed that we look at ourselves and wonder, “where did we go?” and “where are we going?” This is where we collectively say goodbye to comparison, fears, and judgment about the emotions and learning moments that come up in families when they’re welcoming a new addition.

  • The Connected Parents isn’t a parenting course, it’s a safe space to explore and empower your unique journey during this period of life with little ones and learning how to care for yourself and your relationship while learning to care for another life. Our goal is to help you enter this stage of life feeling more connected, empowered, and skilled as you create intentional memories aligned with the values that the two of you hold closest to your hearts.

  • If you have a little one(s) in your world or a little one arriving soon, When it comes to supporting our parents, it’s never too late or too early. The Connected Parents is here for you. We open our arms and insights to birthing parents, established parents, partners, and couples. We embrace the diversity of fertility and birthing stories, sexual orientation, traditions, and backgrounds that walk through our doors.

Everything about this experience supports couples in caring for one another, so they can show up stronger to care for their little one. Thinking your journey is one we’ve probably never seen? We are here for it, and our group grows stronger with each new story we welcome in.

  • Return home with the skills to:

    • Give yourself grace as the real and common impacts of parenthood enter your relationship, from connection and intimacy to communication and conflict management

    • Understand your partner on a deeper level and grow through a common empathy for what the other is going through, or has experienced

    • Lead as a family with greater intention through more clarity into what consciously or subconsciously informs your transition to parenthood including stories, expectations, values, and wounds

    • Confidently navigate parenthood with transparency about where your relationship can strengthen in this new phase of life

    • Feel empowered by self-care for your own nourishment and for your family and relationships

You are each other’s biggest resource, and we can’t wait to share insights you can come back to again and again once the experience concludes.

FAQ

  • Nope! We’ve gotten some super interesting feedback on this. Similar to starting a relationship and doing pre-marital counseling, it helps reduce SO MUCH unnecessary struggle going into your new adventure when you’re more informed and empowered. That said, it’s also one of those, “you think you know, but you had no idea” type of things. We’ve gotten equally strong feedback that doing this after baby was just as helpful and that it was applicable to anyone with littles that are dearly beloved but stress the primary relationship that’s holding them.

  • Yes. We created the experience around in-person gatherings and sessions, but if a hybrid mix of online and live sessions works best, we’re happy to accommodate you.

  • The Connected Parents is highly encouraged to experience with your partner, but if one of you can’t attend a session there will be a recording you can share with them afterward to discuss and reflect on.

  • Our intensive is lovely because it all revolves around your unique story. So there will absolutely be room for this unique aspect of your journey. We actually have supplemental IVF content and room to process your fertility journey for you and your partner to explore together as well. We understand what a journey it’s been for you. We got you.

  • Leading up to the weekend, you could explore conversations about what you wish to get out of the experience, identifying areas you already thrive and ones where you could use some extra support in your relationship. We encourage you to come open and authentically yourselves as you identify your expectations, dreams, and even fears for the transition ahead. We welcome you to book a private session before and/or after the workshop as well if you’d like even more intentionality around identifying what your relationship needs and wants to bring home the most.

  • We’ve got you too. While we recommend involving someone that will be intimately involved within your village (like a grandparent or sibling) our focus is on holding the system that holds the baby, so if that system is you, that’s great! Our intensive flexes and adapts to your unique story and needs. We wish there was a way around the inherent lack of representation of being the solo system and the “ugh” feelings that can come around that. Know that you belong here 1000% and more and we’re with you as a part of your village too.

  • Our most honest answer: the sooner the better. If you’re expecting, this will empower you BIG TIME and support your resilience and relationship. There’s also less hurdles to carving out the time and childcare. If you have littles already, we have gotten super strong feedback about how helpful this has been and how they wish they’d done it sooner. Taking time to care for your relationships will give back to you tenfold.
